TECHNICAL PROGRAM OVERVIEW:

This year, the multi-society multi-discipline multi-industry event will focus on the role of Geomechanics for Efficient and Sustainable Energy Supply. The symposium will kick off with a legacy training program, “Rock with Fellows”, offered by Priscilla Nelson on Mining (Colorado School of Mines), Maurice Dusseault on Energy Storage (University of Waterloo), and John McLennan on Geothermal (University of Utah), as well as a keynote by Mark Zoback on Unconventional Resources (Stanford University).

It will play host to over 234 presentations in 30 technical sessions. IGS expects more than 450 technical attendees from more than 35 countries in six continents. This symposium is a global geomechanics summit for more than 140 of the world’s leading NOCs, IOCs, service companies, and universities. Focusing on the role of geomechanics in energy efficiency and sustainability, the technical program will cover a wide range of geomechanics topics, from CO2 sequestration, hydrogen, mining, geothermal to applications in petroleum exploration, drilling, completion, hydraulic fracturing, production, and reservoir engineering.

This multi-society, multi-discipline, multi-industry event will focus on the role of geomechanics in energy efficiency and sustainability. The symposium will kick off with a legacy training program, “Rock with Fellows,” taught by three key speakers: Mark Zoback (Stanford University), Herbert Einstein (MIT), and John McLennan (University of Utah). It will play host to over 180 presentations in 15 technical sessions and 9 poster sessions. IGS expects more than 200 technical attendees from more than 35 countries spanning six continents. This symposium is a global geomechanics summit for more than 70 of the world’s leading NOCs, IOCs, service companies, and universities. Focusing on the role of geomechanics in energy efficiency and sustainability, the technical program will cover a wide range of geomechanics topics, from rock, in-situ stress, natural fractures, faults, drilling, completion, stimulation, production, and reservoir engineering, and showcase geomechanics applications in CO2 sequestration, hydrogen storage, and new energies.

We invite all rock jockeys from operators, technology developers, service providers, researchers, and students to exchange geomechanics experience and know-how among technology developers, providers, and practitioners.
